About
The documentary "The Cove" was released in 2009. It exposes the capturing and slaughtering of whales by Japanese fishermen in Taiji. Whaling has a long history and is considered a tradition in many countries. Today, Norway, Iceland, and Japan still engage in whaling. While the media often focuses on Japan's whaling practices, reports show that Norway kills more whales than Japan and Iceland combined. However, the need for whale meat is declining, and only the elderly and tourists consume it. Some of the whale meat is used as feed for animals on fur farms, while most is exported to Japan. Whaling is inhumane, unnecessary, and has a negative impact on the ecosystem.
